AUDITIONS
Auditions for the six younger members
of the von trapp family (see below) will take place on Saturday 14th January
St MARY’S SCHOOL HALL, CHAPEL GREEN CROWBOROUGH, at 10.00 am
These auditions will consist of a workshop audition for all applicants, involving movement, singing and acting in the morning. This will be followed by an afternoon of ‘recalls’ which will involve more formal auditions from the script. (If a large number of children audition it may mean that not all of them will be shortlisted for the afternoon ‘recalls’.)
The children’s audition song will be “Do-re-mi”, and the parts are as follows:- |

In order to schedule the day to maximum advantage, we are asking all children who are interested in auditioning to register with one of us, giving the name and age of the child / children plus a contact email address / telephone number. (This includes any who are already members of the Rotherfield Players.)

Adult auditions will be held in the week beginning 6th of February as follows:
- Monday 6th February – Help Night involving further information on characters and the show, learning the movement audition piece and a chance to register for the parts you wish to audition for.
- Friday 10th February – Movement and singing audition. This will be the main audition for those people only wishing to audition for chorus roles.
- Saturday 11th February - Principals auditions (n.b. a schedule for the day will be arranged based upon who registers on the Monday evening, we hope that this will limit the amount of hanging around for everyone).
A reminder of the characters is given below. The Sound of Music characters and ‘stage age’ are below.

- Rolf and Liesl – ‘Sixteen Going on Seventeen’
- Mother Abbess – ‘Climb Every Mountain’
- All others – ‘Edelweiss’ or ‘My Favourite Things’
This production is going to be huge amounts of fun but is also going to involve a lot of hard work during March and April which will include a number of Sunday rehearsals and having to rehearse on some bank holidays.
As a result we will be asking for holiday dates for both Juniors and adult members wishing to audition for the show to ensure that we can maintain as well attended rehearsals as possible throughout.
